No matter how old you are, learning a new foreign language is always a rewarding and exciting experience in many ways. Scientific studies have shown that such a process can increase the brain growth and improve your memory, boost your chances on the job market, and deepen cultural understanding, but it also strengthens self-confidence in general.

Here at the PAR Language Center, we offer a wide range of foreign language courses. Thus, you can choose English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, or French classes based on your level of knowledge. We also provide on request several specialized language courses (English for Beginners, Business English, English for Tourism and Hospitality, Conversational English, TOEFL and IELTS preparation courses) in a group or individually as well as in-house training. Our courses are designed to enhance the four essential language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, paying special attention to the conversation.

As the Center is an integral part of the Business School PAR, it also provides courses and guidance to students, teachers and non-staff members, especially when engaging in exchange programs. It conducts language testings to determine the proficiency level. Additionally, through a compulsory course in Business English that runs through all three years of the study, as well as by choosing between the available foreign language elective subjects (Spanish, French or German), the Business School PAR promotes plurilingualism.

Our standard learning programs, besides the language courses that are a part of the study program, include 60 teaching hours (45 minutes each) and is based on the Common European Framework of Reference:

Our teachers are highly qualified with extensive and long-standing experience in teaching foreign languages. To ensure the quality of our courses, classes are held in small groups (maximum of 12 students per group).

The PAR Center for languages offers foreign language courses of the highest quality that are performed according to modern principles of creative and integrated classes customized for the specific needs of the participants.

PPrograms are made according to the guidelines of the CEFR (Common European Framework for Reference of Languages), which allows students balanced learning of languages for language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking).

Instructors at the PAR Center for Languages are professors of foreign language with many years of experience in working with youth and adults. It’s about people with knowledge of conducting language courses for general and specific purposes, and who have worked in various educational establishments and institutions in Croatia and abroad.

 Courses offered for the public

(Insofar as you are not sure which is the level of your knowledge of a foreign language, in the following text is a description of the Common European Framework of Reference for language that will be helpful in determining.)


English language for beginners – intended for individuals with little previous knowledge of English (A1- A2). The goal of the course is to prepare participants to continue the course at the level A2 – B1.

Course in grammar of the English language – intended for persons with a basic knowledge of the English language (A2 – B1). The goal of the course is to provide students with a basic knowledge of grammar and morphosyntax of the English language with the goal of training students for advanced courses at the level of B1 – B2 and specialized courses.

Business English – intended for persons with a knowledge of the English language at a minimal level of B2. The aim of the course is to train students for written and oral communication in English in a business environment with a focus on the cultural specificity of communication and presentation and communication skills.

Conversational course – intended for persons with a knowledge of English on the level of B1 – B2. The course puts emphasis on communicative competence, i.e., communication exercises in English.

Course of intercultural communication – intended for persons with a knowledge of English at the level of B2 – C1. The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the theories about intercultural communication, the cultural specificities of the Slavic, Anglo-Saxon and Romanic speaking areas and the strategies for the development of intercultural communicative competence.

English for tourism and the hospitality industry – a specialized English language course for people who deal in the tourist and hospitality industries.

Preparatory courses for taking the TOEFL and IELTS tests – are conducted through exercises of the four basic skills: writing, reading, listening and speaking. In addition, preparations involve exercise strategies for taking standardized tests. Preparation courses are performed over a duration of 20 hours. With regard to the individual approach to all our programs, participants will be able to attend extra lessons, wherever appropriate and agreed upon.


The PAR Center for Languages became a certified educational representative of the Language Center of New York. With the establishment of this transatlantic cooperation, the Rijeka center for learning foreign languages was given the unique opportunity of administrating and organizing educational trips in the most exciting city in the world. Inhouse courses are courses designed for establishments, institutions and companies that have a specific need for the teaching of foreign languages (foreign clients, international partners, work on projects, consultancy services, international communication, etc.). Inhouse courses are specific in that they are created according to the needs of the client and provide firm support for students/employees with the aim of achieving more successful communication in a foreign language, and thereby business success.


The PAR Center for Languages offers the option of providing individual instruction, whereby the professor creates a program for the specific needs of individual participants. This mode of instruction allows faster and easier mastery of the language and is capable of focusing the intensity of learning on individual segments, in accordance with the needs of the participants.
